The Features of Injection Mold Manufacturing

Create Time: 20-12-2017

Compared with other types of molds such as stamping molds and die-casting molds, injection mold manufacturing has 5 obvious characteristics. The analysis is as follows:

1. The cavity and core are three dimensional constitute.

The external and internal shapes of plastic parts are directly formed by the cavity and core. These complex three-dimensional profiles are more difficult to process, especially the blind-hole inner molding surface processing of the cavity. If traditional processing methods are used, not only workers are required to have a high level of skill, but also need many auxiliary tools and fixtures, many, and a long processing cycle.

2. High precision and surface quality requirements, long service life.

At present, the dimensional accuracy of general plastic parts is required to be IT6-7, and the surface roughness is Ra0.2-0.1m. The corresponding dimensional accuracy of tooling for plastic injection molding is required to reach IT5-6, and the surface roughness is less than Ra0.1m. The roughness of the recording surface of the laser disk should reach 0.02-0.01m, which is the level of mirror processing and requires the surface roughness of the mold to be less than 0.01m. Long-life injection molds are necessary to improve efficiency and reduce costs. At present, the service life of injection molds generally requires more than 1 million times. Precision injection molds need to use a rigid mold base, increase the thickness of the template, and add support columns or tapered positioning elements to prevent the mold from deforming after pressure. Sometimes the internal pressure can reach 100MPa. The ejection device is an important factor that affects the deformation and dimensional accuracy of the product. So the best ejection point should be selected to make the demolding uniform. Most of the high-precision injection molds are inlaid or fully assembled in structure, which requires the machining accuracy and interchangeability of mold parts to be greatly improved.

3. Long technological process and tight manufacturing time.

For injection molded parts, most of them are complete products that are matched with other parts. In many cases, other parts have been completed, and they are eagerly waiting for the matching of injection molded parts to coming into the market. Such injection molded parts made by multi cavity injection molding can help shorten the lead time.

4. Design and manufacture in different places.

Mold manufacturers design and manufacture molds according to user requirements. And in most cases, injection production of products is also done by other manufacturers. This results in a situation where product design, mold design and manufacturing, and product production are carried out in different places.

5. Professional division of labor, dynamic combination

Mold production is small in batches and generally belongs to single-piece production. But molds require a lot of standard parts, large mold bases, and small thimbles. These can not and must not be completed by one manufacturer alone, and the manufacturing process is complex. The use of common equipment and numerical control equipment is extremely unbalance.
